DSDM® Atern - Culture
DSDM® Atern culture may be summarised as a collaborative, cohesive and controlled team based environment sharing clarity of business objectives that match to the fluid and changing nature of business. The culture is the catalyst for teams working efficiently to achieve long term goals via a series of incremental and iterative steps. It all sounds natural and logical and as such it can be very intuitive. However, DSDM® Atern recognises the need to provide controls to avoid the all too common tendency to invest based on a sense to complete rather than operating with defined business needs and constraints.
DSDM® Atern culture is enshrined in eight principles, which in turn provide the framework for identifying and managing risks affecting the ability to deliver successful and completed projects. The principles are self-explanatory, being:
- Focus on business need
- Deliver on time
- Collaborate
- Never compromise on quality
- Build incrementally from firm foundations
- Develop iteratively
- Communicate continously and clearly
- Demonstrate control.
DSDM® Atern culture extends beyond the projects it manages, providing businesses with the best opportunity to engage, or disengage, projects most likely to delivery real business value within environments driven by timeline, resource or quality criteria.
